Machine Thinking "Workflow"
"The idea was of a traversing path through the city — made from a residential part of the city to a commercial one. And we selected a path out of four, which was potentially the best option based on other data. At this point we used the locations given to us by pix2pix and placed out iterations on there and started thinking about how we would make them stand out and how visibility would work within them"
"The script went over multiple iterations over time, we were first looking at the outside-in on how windows could be created by an isovist after it touched a surface of a building. But that was just a testbed for us to jump into how we can use the iterated blocks we placed around the city into the city and punched windows from the inside-out revealing tailored views of the city"
"Then the script changed into looking at the inside-out on how the windows could be optimised to look at the cities from inside the blocks, a cognitive environmental reading of the city. The first challenge was to put the iterations onto the pix2pix points and then optimising them using Ladybug and look for the best outdoor thermal comfort possible, we assumed and only calculated the temperature outside the blocks on the street where people are expected to walk. Then we chose the best one using Galapagos, cooler in Winter and Colder in the Summer"
